Beverage and cocktail photography.
Cocktails, coffee, beer, wine and spirits, lit to make every glass glow. For bars, restaurants and beverage brands across Southern California.
Beverage & cocktails
Glow, garnish, pour.
Glass that glows. Backlighting and careful reflections make drinks look bright and clean, never flat or muddy.
Action shots. Pours, splashes, flames and garnishes, captured at the exact moment they look best.
For menus, bars and brands. Drink menus, social media, packaging and ads, with unlimited images from the shoot.
Cheers to that.
The right drink photo makes people order a second round. Bright, refreshing and full of character, made to stop the scroll.
Cocktail, wine and spirits photography
I'm Alan De Herrera. I photograph drinks for bars, restaurants, wineries and spirits brands across Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego and Riverside — cocktail menus, bottle shots, wine lists, coffee programmes and the vertical video that goes with them.
Drinks are a lighting problem more than a styling one. Glass takes the shape of whatever you put behind it, so most of a drinks shoot is building the reflection you want and killing the ones you don’t.
What I shoot
Menus, bottles, and the pour
Cocktail menus, where every drink has to look like it belongs to the same bar. Bottle and can shots clean enough for retail and for an ecommerce listing. Wine on the table and wine in the room. Coffee, tea and non-alcoholic programmes, which are usually the hardest to make look like anything and the most worth doing well.
Ice matters more than anything else on the table. I shoot with fresh ice, work fast, and reset between frames rather than letting a drink die on set.
-
Your bartender makes the drinks and I direct from behind the camera, which keeps the garnish and the build correct and costs you nothing extra. For hero shots that have to hold for hours — heavy foam, a layered build, anything with a burnt orange or a smoke dome — a stylist is worth bringing in, and I quote that separately.
Pours, shakes and smoke all shoot beautifully in slow motion, so I usually capture vertical video of two or three drinks while the lighting is already up.
What it costs
Flat rates from $495
Unlimited images, no per-image fees and no licensing tiers, edited and delivered in three business days. A full cocktail menu of twelve to twenty drinks is comfortably a single day, and food can be shot in the same visit.
Tell me how many drinks, your city and roughly when you need them, and I will come back with a straight number within one business day.

Flat rates start at $495 and include unlimited images, editing and delivery within three business days. A twelve to twenty drink menu is normally one day. No per-image fees and no licensing tiers.

Either. Most cocktail menus are shot at the bar, because your bartender is there, the ice is there and the back bar gives the images somewhere real to live. Bottle and packaging work is usually cleaner on a set, which I can build at your venue or shoot in a studio.
-
Twelve to twenty for a full cocktail menu. Drinks with a long build, heavy foam or a smoke dome take longer, so tell me which ones are heroes and I will plan the order around them.
-
Yes, and that is usually the smart way to do it. One lighting set-up covers both, so a menu shoot and a cocktail shoot in the same day costs far less than booking them separately.
-
Usually not. Your bartender builds the drink and I direct, which keeps the garnish and the pour correct and costs you nothing extra.
Hero shots that have to hold up for hours under lights, heavy foam, layered builds and ice-cream or dairy drinks really do benefit from a stylist. When a shot needs one I bring a stylist in and quote it separately.

I shoot with fresh ice and reset between frames rather than letting a drink die on set. Modern lighting is cool enough that the clock is generous, but the discipline still matters. Clear ice is worth it for hero shots if your bar has it.
-
Yes. Clean bottle and can shots on white for ecommerce and retail listings, plus styled versions for social and advertising. Labels need care with reflections, and that is a lighting build rather than a retouching job.
-
Yes. Pours, shakes, smoke and garnish drops all shoot beautifully in slow motion, in vertical for reels and horizontal for your site, captured in the same visit as the stills.
