Food Lifestyle Photographer

People, plates, props and place — lifestyle photography that tells the whole story of a dining experience across Southern California.

Real moments.
Food lifestyle photography.

Hands, tables, friends and real moments around food. Lifestyle images that show how your food fits into people’s lives, for restaurants, brands and social media.

Restaurant lifestyle photography shows the experience, not just the plate: hands reaching across a table, a toast at the bar, a server setting down the first dish. I shoot lifestyle food photography in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego for restaurants, hospitality groups and food brands, and pair it with clean menu shots in the same visit. If you want lifestyle restaurant photography or an Instagram food photographer in Orange County, Los Angeles or San Diego, I shoot it in the same visit as your menu photos.

Lifestyle

Food is better shared.

People, not just plates. Hands reaching, glasses raised and friends around the table bring warmth and energy to your brand.

Friends toasting cocktails over a table of tacos, pizza and guacamole - lifestyle food photography, Los Angeles

Love at first toast.

Lifestyle photos sell the experience, not just the dish. They show guests what a night at your place feels like.

Lifestyle food photography

I'm Alan De Herrera, a food lifestyle photographer. Lifestyle work is the half of a shoot that isn't the plate: hands reaching in, a chef at the pass, a glass raised across a table, a dining room that is actually full. I shoot it for restaurants and food brands across Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego and Riverside.

A menu photograph answers what the dish looks like. A lifestyle photograph answers what it would feel like to be there, which is the question somebody is actually asking when they are choosing between four restaurants on their phone.

How it fits a shoot day

Shot alongside your menu, not instead of it

Almost every lifestyle frame I shoot happens on a day that is already booked for menu work. The lighting is up, the food is on the table and the room is yours, so the extra cost is small and you end up with a balanced library rather than forty plates on white.

You need both. The ordering app and the printed menu want the clean version. Your homepage, your social and any campaign want the room, the people and the moment.

What it costs

Flat rates

Unlimited images, no per-image fees and no licensing tiers, edited and delivered in three business days, with vertical and horizontal crops from the same frames. Vertical video can be shot in the same visit while the light is already up.

Tell me what you want the pictures to do, your city and roughly when you need them, and I will come back with a straight number within one business day.
